The Greenmarket is back on the North end of Union Square, and has been pushed North on the West side as well (by the Christmas market).
Despite the cold, most farmers are here. For many, including Berried Treasure, next Wednesday will be their last for the season. Di Paolo will be here next Wednesday with turkey orders and a showcase of other meats and poultry, as will Quattro. Paffenroth is here with great root vegetables and greens, as is Miglorelli.
Stokes has great mixed bunches of fresh herbs for seasoning your holiday bird and will be here next week as well. Several farmers have gorgeous purple, white, and orange cauliflower, and have brought in brussels sprouts and cabbages, squashes, pumpkins, and root vegetables. Eckerton has cherry tomatoes! If you leave them out for a week, they'll be ready for Thanksgiving dinner. Eckerton also has tasty hot peppers and Berried Treasure has great dried beans. Mountain Sweet Berry has lovely little potatoes this week and will be here with them again next Wednesday. (I'm planning to roast them and shallots under my holiday capon.)
Terhune and Locust Grove apple orchards are back in their positions on the North end of the market, along with Stokes, Ronnybrook, Three Corner Field Farm (lamb, cheese, yogurt), and others.
Flora Perfecta is at the 15th Street end of the Greenmarket with mums and roses and will be there next Wednesday. The wonderful orchid stand is there also. River Garden is further up north with beautiful dried flowers, near Beth's Jam.
