Emu Eggs! Sungold Tomatoes! Heirloom Tomato Plants!

Bodhitree has sungold cherry tomatoes! The ostrich farm has both emu and ostrich eggs. Cayuga is here with grains, flours, and delicious whole wheat bread. Two Guys has mesclun bunches and microgreens. Oak Grove has lush heirloom tomato plants and mesclun and herb sets. Stokes has beautiful flowering and herb plants as well as several kinds of cut herb. Norwich has Japanese turnips. Muddy River has various good-looking greens and young garlic.Berried Treasures has FIDDLEHEADS and WATERCRESS.

Rhubarb! Asparagus! Ramps! Microgreens!

It's been snowing in the Hudson Valley, so the season is a bit stalled, but there are many stands with delicious asparagus, including Cherry Lane, Stokes, Hoeffner, and Bodhitree, and Mountain Sweet Berry and Berried Treasures have good looking ramps. Several stands have beautiful lilacs, including Locust Grove, Terhune, and River Garden. Mountain Sweet Berry has wild baby arugula and Windfall has gorgeous micro greens and other greens as well as edible flowers and excellent green eggs.Two Guys from Woodbridge has beautiful mixed lettuce bunches and other tasty greens and herbs. Hoeffner has rhubarb.

Greenhouse Strawberries! Asparagus!! Rhubarb!!

Loni had greenhouse STRAWBERRIES at 8AM. No guarantee that they're still there. They also have beautiful salad and other greens. Anna says that this may be the last week for her tulips, although if it stays cool, who knows! Scarborough is here with great herb and other plants.Race has rhubarb and asparagus. Other stands have asparagus as well.

Mario Batali will be signing books in Union Square on Wednesday.

ASPARAGUS and LILACS!! GREEN GARLIC!!

S&SO is back with baby arugula, asparagus, and other reasonably priced vegetables. Cherry Lane is here with spinach, potatoes, and their excellent asparagus. Hoeffner and Gorzynsky have rhubarb. Stokes and D'Attolico have delicious looking sorrel, and Stokes, Binder, and Oak Grove all have lush potted herb plants. Norwich has red mizuna and tatsoi, in addition to spinach and several kales. D'Attolico has young garlic and sprouts and, if you get there early enough, Stokes has some purple asparagus. Several stands have flowering branches, including lilacs, and Durr and Newfield Farm have beautiful tulips. (Newfield Farm's stand is now opposite Ronnybrook and next to Cato Corner's fragrant and tasty cheeses!

Tatsoi! Ostrich filet! Asparagus!!

If you've never tried ostrich meat, you'll be able to today, when our local ostrich vendor cooks up some ostrich filet! Norwich has their first tatsoi, as well as plenty of spinach and other greens. Samascott, Bodhitree(Nevia) and others have slim and gorgeous asparagus. Muddy River has beautiful fresh sorrel, and Two Guys are here with salad and other greens.

FRANCA of Berried Treasures is back!! She has watercress, chives, ramps, and many different potato varieties. Oak Grove is here with beautiful heirloom tomato plants, mesclun sets, and edible nasturtium plants. Beth's Jam and Our Daily Bread are here as well. Stokes and Oak Grove both have excellent potted herb plants and Stokes has lovely flowering potted plants.

ASPARAGUS!!! CHERRY LANE!! LILACS!!

CHERRY LANE IS BACK!! They have delicious asparagus, arugula, and spinach. Nevia of Bodhitree Farm has beautiful green and purple asparagus, tasty cucumbers, radishes, salad greens, kales, and other greens. FRANCA of BERRIED TREASURES is back, with good looking Jerusalem artichokes, ramps, nettles, and various European style potatoes. Hoeffner has asparagus and RHUBARB, in addition to pretty potted plants. Two Guys From Woodbridge's stand has a wide variety of lettuces, microgreens, and other greens.

Kernan is here with asparagus and other produce. Madura is here with various mushrooms and greens. Windfall Farm has several kinds of edible flowers, including arugula blossoms, as well as many kinds of salad and other greens. Valley Shepherd has artisanal cheeses, ricotta, ravioli, and tasty gnocchi. Several stands have LILACS. Silva Orchids has lovely orchids. River Garden has lilacs and dried flowers.

Hudson Valley Duck Prosciutto! Asparagus!! Irises!

Healthway is here with their excellent wide variety of potatoes. Scarborough has brought in herbs and other plants, including bonsai. Hudson Valley Duck Farm has ducks, duck prosciutto, and other duck products. (I was lucky enough to get the last duck salami -- until June!) Loni has several salad and other greens. Loni, Race, and others have ASPARAGUS!! Anna of Newfield Farm has the first IRISES, as well as beautiful tulips and daffodils.

Rhubarb!! Asparagus!! Ramps!!

Hoeffner has ASPARAGUS and RHUBARB! Gorzynsky also has RHUBARB! Stokes has a few bunches of asparagus and will have more next week. Terhune has good-looking ramps. Norwich has spinach and Miglorelli has broccoli rabe. Paffenroth has several interesting greens, including nettles. Stokes has spearmint and sorrel.

Locust Grove has moved to the West end of the market, next to Newfield Farm. Anna has gorgeous tulips this week and says there will be irises next week! Quattro's has capons, pheasants, chickens, ducks, and several kinds of egg, including wild turkey and pheasant eggs. Their delicious chicken eggs are tasty and reasonable.

Ronnybrook has a new item, Greek-style yogurt. (I tried the honey vanilla and it is rich, tart, and delicious. I think the plain will be great for raita, cooking, and savory yogurt drinks.)

A New Onion, Spinach, Arugula, Cut Herbs, Heirloom Tomato Plants

Nevia of Bodhitree has a Japanese onion which looks like a leek but is sweeter and more tender, called a negi. She also has salad and braising greens, as well as sorrel. Muddy River is here with nettles, salad mix, and arugula. Norwich Farm has various kales and spinach. Two Guys From Woodbridge brought in beautiful mixed lettuce bunches and other greens and microgreens.Oak Grove has lush heirloom tomato plants, herb plants, edible nasturtium plants, and other goodies.

Purple Asparagus!! Pea Shoots!! Wild Baby Arugula!!

Stokes has beautiful PURPLE ASPARAGUS! Mountain Sweet Berry has WILD BABY ARUGULA, RAMPS, and PEA SHOOTS! Nevia of Bodhitree has ASPARAGUS! and a wide variety of greens, including mesclun with flowers, and kale. Duva has some unusual and gorgeous tulips. Miglorelli has scallions, big bags of spinach, collards, and other greens. Locust Grove has LILACS! It's SILVER HEIGHTS first day back in the market with many herb, vegetable, and other young plants for city gardeners.

The wild trout guy has ramps as well and Cato Corner Farm has succulent cheeses. Ronnybrook is here with milks, butters, cheeses, and yogurts. Shushan is here with cherry tomatoes, herbs, and salad greens. Oak Grove has lush heirloom tomato plants, herb plants, and popping corn, as well as dried pepper branches. Beth's Jam is here with jams, jellies, and chutneys.

Healthway Farm is here with many delicious potato varieties. Hudson Valley Duck Farm has duck salami, smoked duck breast, and other treats. Anna of Newfield Farm has unusual and beautiful tulips. If you couldn't find her in the strange place they put her in on Saturday, you have a second chance to admire her wide selection of parrot and other unique tulips.

ASPARAGUS!!! WATERCRESS!! GORZYNSKI!! ANNA'S TULIPS!!

ASPARAGUS is here, and Hoeffner's got it! Check out Moountain Sweet Berry's first wild baby arugula and ramps and, if you're there at noon when Rick breaks out the watercress, tasty cress!

GORZYNSKY is back with dandelion greens, shallot cress mixed with chickweed, scallions, yellow dock, favabean greens, and other great organic greens. Northshire has wild dandelion and radicchio rosa. I picked up some beautiful sorrel from D'Attiloco, who also has salad greens and sprouts.Paffenroth has upland cress, onion chives, stinging nettles, and watercress and Windfall has a huge array of micro and other greens.

I picked up some eggs from Violet Hill and a beautiful smoked duck from Quattro's (who also have alot of smoked pheasants, ducks, chicken parts). Violet Hill and Quattro's both have excellent poultry. Quattro's also has wild turkey, duck, and pheasant eggs in addition to their excellent chicken eggs.

I bought a beautiful assortment of unusual tulips from Anna of Newfield Farm today. They've moved her to the far west end of the market near 15th street, so keep looking if you miss her at her former spot. Several stands have lovely flowering branches today, including James Durr, Locust Grove, and Terhune.

RAMPS!! Mountain Sweet Berry's ramps are full-grown today and they have young chives as well. Stokes has beautiful young sorrel, thyme, rosemary, and chives cut for cooking. Oak Grove has lush heirloom tomato plants, herb plants, mesclun sets for apartment gardens, and popping corn. Windfall has micro-mesclun, pea shoots, young greens, edible flowers, and green eggs. Cayuga has several kinds of flours and grains and their excellent whole wheat bread. Madura has green garlic and greens as well as several varieties of mushroom. Two Guys From Woodbridge has lovely salad greens and Shushan has cherry tomatoes, salad greens and herbs.Andrew's Honey is here as is Beth's Jam.

Hudson Valley Duck Farm Salami! Madura's Mushrooms! Anna's Tulips!

Monday's Greenmarket is getting more and more interesting as Spring appears, with Loni's Tuscan Black Kale, salad greens, baby arugula, broccoli rabe, and other delicious greens. Hudson Valley Duck Farm brings in tasty duck salami, smoked duck breast, and other delicious duck products and there are delicious cheeses to be had. There are also beautiful tulips and great breads. I'm sorry I missed the market early enough to make this report useful today, but the Internet didn't want to have anything to do with me this morning!!

RAMPS!!! GREEN GARLIC!! TULIPS!!

RAMPS!!! Mountain Sweet Berry has them, but there was an incredible line, so you have to be fast this morning! Norwich had green garlic this morning, but are already out of it! Northshire has radicchio rosso and quail eggs and Quattro's has pheasant, duck, wild turkey, and chicken eggs as well as the poultry to go with them.

Anna's tulips (Newfield Farm) are even more incredibly beautiful today than they were last week. James Durr is here with flowering branches, daffodils, and tulips. Locust Grove also has flowering branches in addition to apples. Terhune has flowering branches as well. Stokes is here with beautiful flowering potted plants and herbs as well as cut rosemary and thyme. The Binders are back with vegetable and herb sets and succulents.

Heirloom Tomato Plants!!! Fresh Ricotta!!!

Dancing Ewe is back with merguez sausage, their excellent ricotta, and tasty cheeses. Nevia has broccoli rabe, baby spinach, watercress, and other greens. The Ostrich stand has fresh emu and ostrich eggs, ostrich steak,filet, burgers, and other meat. Flying Pig has various pork cuts. Pura Vida is her with fish. Beth's Jam has beautifully wrapped jams and chutneys for Easter gifts. Two Guys From Woodbridge has salad greens, mesclun mix, and baby arugula. Norwich has baby carrots, spinach, kale, and chard.

Oak Grove has HEIRLOOM TOMATO PLANTS!! and tiny mesclun as well as herb plants, pork products, popping corn, and windowsill herb gardens.

RAMPS COMING SOON!!!

Stokes is back for their first Wednesday market with beautiful flowering plants, herb plants, and cut rosemary and thyme. Rick Bishop of Mountain Sweet Berry has brought in samples of RAMPS and will have them for sale on Saturday, weather permitting. Oak Grove has lush herb plants and several stands have potted Spring flowers. Locust Grove has flowering branches.

I'm having a piece of Cayuga's delicious whole wheat bread (available on Wednesdays in the market) with Beth's Jam's Meyer Lemon marmalade. I also picked up some of Cayuga's beans, the supply of which is shrinking rapidly.
