Grapes and pumpkins, fewer stands with peaches, several stands with winter squash! You know the season is changing. There are plenty of heirloom and other tomatoes in the market, but it's really time to think about (and proceed to) canning or freezing for the winter. Corn also is nearing an end point, although there are still several stands with good ears. Another sign of change is the number of stands with hot and sweet peppers -- you can freeze some varieties for the winter. I also scrape a few ears of corn for freezing.
I know what I'm going to be doing! San Marzano tomatoes from Cherry Lane, Polish and other large plum tomatoes from Stokes, Bodhitree, and Cheerful Cherry(on Friday and Saturday), orange Thai hot peppers and Trinidadian flavoring peppers from Eckerton for the freezer, shelling beans from Berried Treasures for the freezer, and cut herbs from Stokes and SandSO to dry.
