Small But Interesting Monday Market

You would think that a Greenmarket much smaller than on other Union Square Greenmarket days would be less interesting, but that isn't the case at all. Coming in from the West end of the stands, you get to two of the farms with the most unique and varied offerings, Norwich Meadow Farm and Lani. Both have a wide range of beans, eggplants, peppers, tomatoes, herbs, okra, and other great produce. Norwich has artichokes today, as well as some interesting heirloom melons and sweet golden raspberries. Lani has purple and green long beans.

Ask Central Valley Farm about their CSI. I saw their sample offering last week and it looked like a good deal. Fantasy Fruit has blueberries and good looking black and red currants. It's Roaming Acres Berkshire pork day, with many cuts of pork in addition to their usual ostrich offerings. Hudson Valley Duck Farm has tasty rillettes in addition to ducks, smoked duck breast, and other duck products. Madura has brought in several kinds of mushroom.

PE&DD has fresh fish and shellfish and Red Jacket has excellent sweet cherries, their wonderful apricots, and blueberries. Maxwell's Farm has
cranberry beans, huge cabbages, squashes, sweet and hot peppers, herbs, tomatillos, and other excellent produce.

Race has white corn (picked yesterday afternoon), and other produce and pastries. Consider Bardwell has tasty cheeses, the lavender people have fragrant lavender both edible and decorative, and Troncillito Farm is here with peaches. River Garden and Dutchmill both have beautiful flowers.
