Heirloom Tomato Season is Almost Over!

Saturday, October 4, 2008

Cherry Lane has a new crop of fresh lima beans and newly dug sweet potatoes. Paffenroth has baby fennel, various new potatoes and onions, good looking carrots in many colors, and big bunches of cut herbs. Mountain Sweet Berry has tasty wild arugula, sucrine lettuce, Tri-Star strawberries, and bags of cleaned cranberry beans. Sycamore has pumpkins and heirloom tomatoes and will have a second shipment of corn today. Stokes has garlic, heirloom tomatoes, big bunches of cut herbs (including their stellar tarragon, vietnamese cilantro, and other unique choices).

Oak Grove and Eckerton have wonderful hot and sweet peppers. S&SO and Cherry Lane have eggplants. If you really care about heirloom tomatoes, you should be buying them today and freezing some. From what I saw, we're pretty close to the end.

Buzzard Crest is here with beautiful grapes and grape juices. Cherry Lane also has excellent grapes and homemade jams and jellies. Locust Grove has more new season apples, plums, and cider. Fantasy Fruit has blueberries, grapes, and honey.
