Congratulations to Modesto on the 20th anniversary of foraging in the Greenmarket!!!

Modesto checking out the peppers at Norwich
Gramercy Tavern is lucky to have him choosing the beautiful produce we enjoy in the tavern or main rooms there.  I've enjoyed trying to get to the beautiful Charontais melons at Norwich Meadows Farm or Bodhitree before he goes through and snaffles the supply!

It was a schmoozathon today in Union Square. Met a guy who's only two or three degrees of separation from me shopping at Consider Bardwell's cheese stand! (His father went to my high school, his boss went to my college, etc.) It can be fun talking to other customers in the market.

Meanwhile, back to those melons. You can't go wrong with a fragrant melon from one of those two sources, not to mention their delicious heirloom tomatoes! Many stands have mixed varieties of eggplants, squashes, beans, and corn. There are Tri-Star strawberries and red currants at Berried Treasures, along with fava beans out of their shells, zucchini blossoms, and cut herbs.  Madura has several kinds of mushroom and Lucky Dog has good-looking blueberries.
