Well, I was very late today (for me), so I thought I'd give you an idea of what it's like at 1PM on a Friday!

Other stands still have many strawberries, lettuces and other greens, and asparagus.  Muddy River is running out of their big generous bunches of chervil, but they have a lot of other choices.

Maxwell's! Race! Lani! Norwich! These and others have strawberries and other Spring produce!

It's peak season for local strawberries, with many stands having beautiful and tasty varieties. Prices vary, but most are worth the extra dollar, considering the loving care given by our farmers. Several stands also have rhubarb, so pies and shortcake are in order. Or just strawberries cut up over ice cream.

There are also garlic scapes, spring garlic, young leeks, cut herbs, salad greens, and squashes available at Lani's stand and others. Madura is here with mushrooms and other produce and Healthway has interesting potatoes and herb plants.

While I was away, a new poultry farmer arrived in the Monday market, Wildcraft Farms.  Check out his list for the chickens and other birds he's brought today. Roaming Acres has bison, pork, and ostrich. Consider Bardwell has veal. Hudson Valley Duck Farm has ducks, duck parts, and duck products, including rillettes.

I was afraid that the peonies were over, but Hodgson is here with beautiful pink, deep pink, white, and variegated blossoms.

Seatuck had a line waiting for their excellent shellfish, and I was happy to see Ryder next stand down with lovely flowers, greens, and spring garlic. D'Attolico is across the way with delicious salad greens and sprouts, and Bulich is down the road apiece with several good-looking mushroom varieties.

Lani has a wide variety of unique vegetables and S&SO and Paffenroth have gorgeous produce today.  Eckerton has sweet shelling peas and Cherry Lane has sweet and crunchy sugar snap peas. Saute some of Eckerton's scapes with peas and snap peas and serve 'em over angel hair pasta -- that's my plan!
