Time Out

It's time for the World's Ice Skating Competition in Nice. Watching on a Mac isn't totally satisfying, but Time Warner doesn't have Universal Sports. Anyway, I'll be back in the Greenmarket on Saturday, but for now, it's all skating, all the time!

There were ramps in the market on Monday, so it might be worth looking for today. Happy hunting!!!

Dancing Ewe is back with great cheeses!!

Now that the season seems to be changing, I'm going to limit the report to talking about what I see that is new, which stands have returned, and which stands have finished their season.

I'm happy to see Dancing Ewe back , in a new space at the East end of the market. Queens County Museum's stand has two kinds of spinach, baby kale, and good looking salad mix. Bodhitree says that their strawberry plants are flowering, so we should see their appearance some time towards the end of April. With such a warm day, I almost asked about the time frame for asparagus, but stopped myself! Don't want to rush things.

Other than the above, the offerings today are pretty much as they have been.

Lani's Back!! Greens, edible flowers, lettuces!

I'm celebrating my successful eye surgery with Consider Bardwell's delicious cheese chips and Hudson Valley Duck Farm's luscious rillettes. I'm knocked out by the beautiful colors of Dutchmill's tulips and River Garden's lovely dried flower arrangements (as well as their pussy willows and flowering branches). In fact, I'm enjoying the deep and light greens of Lani's lettuces, edible flowers, and other goodies, and Healthway's tempting apples and potatoes. Madura's mushrooms and vegetables looked particularly attractive today, and Andrew's honeys with their various distinctive golden colors were tempting.

Central Valley's tomato sauce, soups, cheeses, and other products looked great, too, and Lavender By The Bay's gifts are pretty and appealing. All in all, this is a beautiful day in Union Square's Greenmarket. To see who else is here and what they've brought, check this URL:
